Course Description

The Graduate Program in Mechanical Engineering of the Military Engineering Institute (IME) was created in 1973. The educational aim of the program is to provide training for careers in basic and applied research. The first master's thesis was defended in 1977 and 218 masters have received a degree since then.

The Graduation in Mechanical Engineering  can be summarized by the following time period:

1928 - Industrial Engineering and Armament Course foundation.
1938 - Metallurgy Course.
1947 - Industrial and Automobile Engineering Course.
1971 - Master´s degree  in Materials Science.
1973 - Master´s degree in Sciences in Mechanical Engineering.

The course has several agreements with different Brazilian research entities and universities that allow the exchange of academic experiences.The course has several agreements with different Brazilian research entities and universities that allow the exchange of academic experiences.From now on, the course will have its certificates approved according to Law 9786/99, regulated by Presidential Decree 3182/99, and in accordance with Law 9394/96.
